Day 1 - From Dar es Salaam to Mikumi Safari Start
Your safari begins early in the morning with a comfortable SGR train journey from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro. This is the easiest way to avoid the long road journey and start the trip feeling relaxed. During the train ride, you can enjoy views of local towns, farms, and the changing countryside as you travel away from the busy city.
When you arrive at Morogoro station, your professional safari guide will be waiting to welcome you. After a short briefing, you will continue by private safari vehicle toward Mikumi National Park. The drive takes you through rural villages and open landscapes, giving you a first look at everyday life outside Dar es Salaam.
After entering Mikumi National Park, your afternoon game drive begins across the wide Mkata Plains. This area is one of the best parts of the park for spotting wildlife. You may see elephants moving between the trees, giraffes feeding on acacia leaves, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeest, impalas, and many other animals. Lions are also regularly seen resting in the grass or near water sources.
Your guide will help you understand the animals, their behavior, and the different habitats found inside the park. There will also be time to stop for photographs and enjoy the peaceful surroundings without rushing.
In the late afternoon, you will leave the park and continue to your accommodation. After checking in, you can relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the next morning game drive.

Day 2 - Morning Game Drive and Return to Dar es Salaam
Your second day begins early with a morning game drive inside Mikumi National Park. The cooler morning hours are one of the best times to see wildlife because many animals are more active before the temperature rises. You may spot lions returning from a night hunt, elephants moving across the plains, giraffes feeding among the acacia trees, and large groups of zebras, buffaloes, wildebeest, and antelopes.
As you explore different areas of the park, your guide will look for fresh animal tracks and explain how wildlife behaves during the early hours. Mikumi’s open landscapes make it easier to observe animals from a distance, while the quieter morning atmosphere creates excellent conditions for photography and peaceful wildlife viewing.
After the game drive, you will leave the park and begin the journey back to Morogoro. Depending on the schedule, you may stop for breakfast or lunch before continuing to the railway station. Your guide will make sure you arrive in good time for the SGR train back to Dar es Salaam.
The train journey gives you time to relax after the safari while enjoying views of the countryside along the way. By the evening, you will arrive back in Dar es Salaam, completing a short but rewarding two day Mikumi safari filled with wildlife, beautiful landscapes, and well organized travel.
> You'll be dropped off at the airport.
