Chobe National Park Travel Guide

The best time to visit Chobe National Park in Botswana is between July and October. During this time, the dry season has settled in, which amplifies the wildlife viewing opportunities. The landscape is then vividly contrasted between the lush riverbanks and the bleached, dry savannah. For bird and wildlife enthusiasts, the sheer abundance of species encountered here make Chobe a must-see destination.

In addition to the wildlife, the months from July through October are most conducive to experiencing the entire region. The sky is clear and breathtakingly blue skies offer the perfect backdrop for incredible photos of the landscape. The temperature is also more enjoyable, making early morning and evening game drives more comfortable.

For the more adventurous, there are plenty of boat trips up the Chobe River which are an invaluable experience. Spotting waterfowl such as the kingfisher is particularly popular. The riverbanks serve as excellent habitats for animals to rest and feed, and on the boat trips you’ll get the chance to experience a variety of animals in close up. Whether by land or water, visitors are sure to have an unforgettable experience at Chobe.
