VEHICLES & DRIVER / GUIDES

Vehicle The ARP Group is extremely proud to highlight the quality of our safari vehicles in Kenya and Tanzania. To back up this modern fleet, we maintain several garages that are strategically located throughout East Africa. In East Africa, vehicles used on the scheduled safari circuits are modern 9-seater safari cruisers. These are specially designed, strengthened and fitted with large pop-up roofs for extended wildlife viewing and photography. On safari, only 7 seats are used, which guarantees each guest a window seat and greater comfort. For Tanzania and Southern Africa safaris, 4x4 vehicles are more widely used, due to the arduous terrain. Most of these vehicles are open-top or have large pop-up/sliding roofs. Some travel in northern Tanzania is by modern safari cruiser. Baggage compartments are generally quite small and located at the rear of the vehicle. One should therefore stick to a medium soft-sided bag plus one small piece of hand luggage. All vehicles have a cooler box, wildlife books and a pair of binoculars, although, we strongly recommend guests bring their own 'books and binos'. For guests who require a private safari and vehicle, please call us to discuss the various options. |

Air
Some safaris in this brochure are based on scheduled or charter flights, thus
allowing extra time to view game. The more esoteric camps generally require
a charter flight to a landing strip close to camp. These options are a little
more expensive, however certainly worth it!
On air safaris, we usually use the transport and guides provided by the appropriate
lodge or camp. These services are usually of an extremely high standard.
Please note that in Southern Africa most safaris have some form of light aircraft
travel, for which luggage restrictions need to be adhered to strictly. (12kgs
per person.)
| Driver/Guides Our driver/guides play an integral part in the safari experience, as they are responsible for the happiness and well-being of every guest. Because of this we take great care to ensure that our driver/guides are born leaders and work exclusively for us. They are also fully trained in all aspects of flora and fauna, tourism and vehicle maintenance. We are one of the few tour operators whose driver/guides attend development projects, to keep abreast with current affairs, game-park regulations and conservation laws. Also, we are very proud to note that each of them speaks English fluently, with many conversing naturally in French and German - although some driver/guides speak other European languages as well! |
