The selection available in the less visited parts of Tanzania such as the Southern and Western reserves has increased, and there are itineraries available to other Southern Africa countries, including Uganda, Rwanda, South Africa, Namibia and Botswana
2007 / 2008 RATES
Due to various factors including higher lodge and camp charges, increased park fees, the effects of the oil price on transportation costs and the weakness of the US$, rates are increasing for 2008, with effect from 15th December.
However, many lodges and camps have now renovated and improved their standards, and there are a number of new properties available.
SAFARI VEHICLES
In Tanzania, all safari vehicles are 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers with 5 or 7 window seats for clients.
In Kenya, the standard safari vehicle continues to be the minibus with 7 window seats for clients. There are some some 4x4 vehicles available which are used on selected “seat in vehicle” itineraries and which can be used, on request, for custom safaris, at supplementary cost.
All vehicles are specially converted for use on safari and have large raising roof hatches for unobstructed views and photography on game drives.
SEASONS
One effect of the high demand recently has been to spread bookings out over the entire year, and the months that were once quiet, are now much busier.
The low season in Kenya is still April, May and June, but in Tanzania it is the months of April and May only.
In both Kenya and Tanzania, supplements are payable in the Christmas holiday period from 24th December to 2nd January.
