ACCOMMODATION
ON SAFARI As a rule of thumb, most accommodation is based around sites that were once hunting camps, scout observation points or colonial retreats. Hence, they are always located in the most exciting areas, where the views are stunning or game viewing excellent. Therefore, the most popular places to stay are usually located on river banks, oxbow lagoons, elevated hills, forests or the edges of plains. |

Lodges Bush lodges tend to be imaginatively designed with a tribal theme and provide a larger more structured accommodation on safari. Guest facilities often include spacious lounges, verandas, bars, TV rooms, dining rooms, swimming pools, boutiques, evening entertainment etc. Rooms are similar to modern hotels and include all the creature comforts one would expect. |

Tented
Camps Tented camps are generally much smaller and more intimate than lodgesand offer a wide variety of styles, from simple to luxurious. The emphasis is on camping, however, in a relaxed fashion with some degree of pampering. All but the most basic camps are usually furnished exquisitely and built consciously into the surroundings. Naturally, tents are extremely spacious and totally protected from the outside elements. Toilet facilities are always en suite. Public areas are usually under canvas and meals taken alfresco around the campfire, which is always a favourite with guests. Most camps have a small plunge pool to cool off in. |
| Camping
Safaris With an emphasis on expert guides, walking through game-rich wilderness areas and an extremely high degree of personal attnetion to detail, the camping safari has become an emerging market for wilderness enthusiasts. Food is of a very good standard and spacious tents exceptionally sophisticated, given the location and mode of safari. These trips are generally for 'old Africa hands', as nothing is routine and close encounters with game is the norm. As you would expect, they are more expensive than a normal safari. |
